Hang Ma street in Hanoi is famous for its votive object marketplace serving a range of spiritual ceremonies, including the Kitchen Gods Festival observed on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month.
The Kitchen Gods are considered the guardians of every household’s kitchen. The one female and two male gods are said to maintain a kitchen’s fire throughout the year.
It is believed that on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month every year the Kitchen Gods ride carps to Heaven and present a report on each household’s activities to the Jade Emperor.

Young Hanoians descend on flower villages for photo shoots
Hanoian women have rushed to the famous flower villages of Nhat Tan and Quang Ba to take photos in the lead up to Tet holiday.
Due to the long-lasting cold spell, peach flowers have blossomed late compared to previous years.
People have arrived in Nhat Tan and Quang Ba from the early morning to plan their shoots.

Painting the horrors of war
HA NOI - A graphic arts exhibition by American artists David Thomas, Carolyn Muskat, Lois Tarlow and Gene Dorgan is shocking audiences with haunting images of the wars.
On display are 71 graphic works that use diverse printing techniques such as lithography, digital printing and photo etching in both realistic and abstract styles. The four artists work independently, and deliver fine arts lectures in the US.
